Wisła Płock is one of the revelations of this Ekstraklasa season. They have triumphed six times, shared points with their rivals four times, and lost only twice. On Monday, they had the opportunity to add three more points to their account, but the task was not easy. Their opponent that day was Pogoń Szczecin. Although the team from Pomorza is performing well below expectations in this campaign and occupies a place in the middle of the standings, they can always be a threat. The match was highly even from the start. The guests, Pogoń, had more possession of the ball. However, there was a threat to the goal from both sides. As early as the 12th minute, Adrian Przyborek had a good chance, but the Wisła goalkeeper made an even better intervention. In the 21st minute, Rajmund Molnar missed a great opportunity - his shot only hit the crossbar. And as the old saying goes: missed opportunities like to take revenge. That's what happened to Pogoń. A minute later, a goal was scored for Wisła. It was an own goal. Zan Rogelj crossed the ball from the right side, and Leonardo Koutris tried to stop it. However, the ball bounced off his foot and after a rebound, it ended up in the net. Pogoń, however, did not give up and quickly wanted to equalize. Kamil Grosicki had a chance, but he missed. Until the break, it was not one-sided. Wisła also had chances, but lacked accuracy. So the first half ended with a slim lead for the hosts. In the 56th minute, the Płock team scored a goal to make it 2:0. Who scored it? Daniel Pacheco, who had only entered the pitch a minute earlier. He made a so-called 'smok' entrance and quickly dismantled Pogoń's defense. He scored directly from a free kick. In the following minutes, Pogoń pushed hard, but they were unable to score a consolation goal. Wisła achieved a fairly high victory. Thanks to this, they moved up to second place in the table. After 13 matches, they have 25 points and are four points behind Górnik Zabrze, who have played one more match. And what about Pogoń? They remain in 13th place. After 14 matches, they have 17 points. At the moment, they are closer to the relegation zone than the top of the Ekstraklasa.
